Mrs Hughes, Debbie, Cheryl and Lori,
I remember Dick from when we all lived on South Pine Street in Geneva.  He was always pleasant to the kids in the hood.  I'm sure you will all miss him.  My sympathy to all of you.

I am the sister of Archie Bentz Jr. and also worked with Dick at the car wash.  He was one of the kindest men I knew, another one of the many uncles that worked for our Dad.
I would see him later in the 90's when he banked at The State Bank of Geneva and I was, and still am employed there.  It was always a great day when I could reminisce with Dick about the old car wash days!  I hope this note finds you all celebrating a life well lived, and loved.
Rest In Peace
Connie

I am sorry that I can not join you in person, but I thought the family might enjoy my memories of Dick.  He had a second career working part-time for my father and later myself in our service stations.  I first worked with Dick at the old Standard station on North Batavia Avenue location before the new station was built.  I was 15 and that would have put Dick at about 38 and every Sunday part of our duties was to wash Roger Williams Continental Coffee truck.  In the winter, we would flip a coin to see who would stay inside and wash versus going outside in the cold to wait on the gas pumps.  We also worked together at the Geneva car wash and finally he come to work for me when I was 27 and had my own gas station in St. Charles.  I will never forget when his gas station career came to an end.  We had new tires on display in racks in front of the station and unfortunately some kids pulled a prank and released the wheel locks sending the racks spilling the tires all over east Main St.  Funny now, but not then, and Dick told me that he was getting to old to chase tires down Main St.
I hope you can take comfort in my sharing some old memories.

Dear Gil and girls.  So sorry and saddened by your loss.  Dick was always a very nice man.  God will help you through this.  Love Ginnie and Gene
