Hilda M. (Flaitz) Flynn

Hilda M. Flynn passed away peacefully Friday, December 8, 2017 at Delnor Hospital in Geneva, with her loving family by her side. 

Hilda was born on February 24, 1923 in Kalamazoo, Michigan. the daughter of Donald and Helen Flaitz. 

Hilda graduated from Radcliff College in Boston, Ma.  and from there joined the Navy during WWII.    She served in Naval Intelligence as a code breaker in Washington D.C.  After the war, she moved to Chicago to work in a law library where she met her attorney husband David.  She then moved to the Flynn family home in Geneva in 1954 to raise her family.  She spent many years working for Kane County as election director and enjoyed politics volunteering for the League of Women Voters.  After retiring at age 68, she began traveling the world, making many lasting friendships.  In between travels, she enjoyed volunteering for St. Peter Food Pantry, Geneva Library book sales and various American Legion events.  Hilda will be missed by so many that enjoyed her companionship and kindness. 

Hilda was preceded in death by her husband, David, her brother and sister-ln-law, Felix and Mary Janet Flaitz. 

Hilda will be remembered by her son Donald and his fiancé Mary Jane Nichols and her family, her brother’s children and grandchildren, and her dear friend of 50 years, Linda Steele and her family.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, December 13, 2017 from 4pm-8pm at Malone Funeral Home, 324 E. State St. (Rt. 38), Geneva.

Funeral Prayers will be held Thursday, December 14, 2017 at 9:30am at the Malone Funeral Home proceeding to St. Peter Catholic Church, 1891 Kaneville Rd., Geneva for a Celebration of Funeral Mass at 10:30am with Father Jonathan Bakkelund celebrant.

Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery, Geneva.
