Michael B. "Mike" Kegebein

Michael B. “Mike” Kegebein, age 76, of Geneva, passed away Saturday, August 5, 2017 at Delnor Hospital in Geneva with his loving family at his side.

He was born November 3, 1940 in Detroit, Michigan the son of Robert and Jeanette (Howard) Kegebein.

Mike attended Northwestern University and played on the basketball team.  He graduated from Ball State University and then received his master’s degree from Indiana University.  He taught history at South Central High School in Union Mills Indiana and at Downer’s Grove South High School; he then spent 27 years working for the FBI.  Mike was an avid sports fan, he especially enjoyed Purdue football and watching the Cubs win the World Series last year.  Mike was a devoted family man and adored spending time with his grandchildren, he will be dearly missed.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 54 years Sharon (Hiigli); sons Stephen of Geneva and Andrew (Alicia) of Elburn; grandchildren Sebastian, Drew, and Zack; brother George of Seattle; and many other dear relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation for Mike will be held Wednesday, August 9, 2017 from 4:00 pm until the time of his funeral service at 7:30 pm at Malone Funeral Home, 324 E. State Street (Route 38), Geneva with Reverend Dr. Mark Tusken, officiating.

A visitation will also be held Thursday, August 10 from 10:00 – 11:30 am at Bethel Presbyterian Church, 110 E. Hamilton Street, Union Mills, Indiana, proceeding to Union Mills Cemetery in Union Mills, Indiana for burial at 11:45 am.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675 would be appreciated.
