Yvonne DeBeir, age 86, of St. Charles, passed away at The Grove of St. Charles, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born December 12, 1936, in Elgin, the daughter of Dr. Oswald and Elvira (Theiss) Kirsch.
She was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Roselle and attended Glenbard High School. Yvonne continued her education at Walther Memorial School of Nursing where she became a Registered Nurse.
In 1958, Yvonne was set up on a blind date with a handsome young man named Jerry (Jerome) DeBeir. Apparently, the date went well, as Yvonne and Jerry married May 28, 1960. Over the next decade, Yvonne and Jerry welcomed 4 children: Suzie, Missy, Jay and Jamie.
Yvonne was one of the founding members of Faith Lutheran Church in Geneva and that is where she made so many of her lifelong friends and wonderful memories. Yvonne served the church in many ways, but no matter what role she was playing, it was her mischievous nature and infectious giggle that drew people to her, young and old. She was joyful, loved Jesus and loved making people laugh.
Reading, knitting, traveling to Door County, collecting sea-glass and Beanie Babies (that one never paid off), counting Weight Watcher Points, laughing with her best friends, finding the craziest hats, laying in the sun, enjoying a Stella or Manhattan (whisky with an olive), spending time with her sisters, nieces and nephews and her kids and grandchildren and sending Jerry to the garage to get her a Diet Pepsi were just a few of the loves of Yvonne’s life.
In November of 2018, Yvonne suffered a massive stroke that stole her ability to speak or move, but it did not steal her wicked sense of humor or love for her beloved Jerry and family. The last 4 years of Yvonne’s life were not as she would have liked, but she remained faithful to her Savior and was a joy to all those who visited her.
Her wish to join her mom, dad and sister in Heaven was granted Sunday morning when she peacefully passed with Jamie and Chris at her side.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years Jerry( Jerome); daughters Suzie (Michael) Frank, Missy (Tim) Messmer, son Jay (Traci) DeBeir and daughter Jamie (Chris) Swenson; grandchildren Amie Hayes, Kayley (Chris) Bogdan, Andrew (Emily) and Evan Frank, Nathan Messmer, Lauren (Daniel) King, Alyse (Caleb) Smith , Jacob (Torie), Julia, and Jonah DeBeir, Jackson and Jefferson Dietrich, and Olivia and Lucy Swenson; great grandchildren Addison and Mia Frank and Emma and Ben Bogdan; sister Sheila Rams of Oconomowoc, Wisconsin; and many other dear relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held Thursday, March 9, 2023 from 4:00pm at Malone Funeral Home up until her Memorial service at 6:30pm with Pastor Ray Krueger officiating.
