Warren John Drewes, age 78, of Geneva, Illinois, passed away peacefully on September 3, 2024. Born on June 12, 1946, in Chicago, Illinois, Warren led a life rich with accomplishment, passion, and love.
Warren is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years Dr. Sandra Drewes; his daughters Casey (Michael) Ebel of Katy, Texas and Dyan Drewes (Luke Davis) of Cudjoe Key, Florida; his cherished grandchildren Peyton and Lucas Ebel; sister Patricia Ferris of Elmhurst; and nieces Leslie Rolison and Jessica Ferris. He was predeceased by his parents, Wayne E. and Kathleen (Brennan) Drewes.
Warren's educational journey began with a Bachelor of Science degree from Northwestern University and an MBA from the Kellogg School of Business at Northwestern University. His dedication to his country was evident through his service as a Lieutenant in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War.
Warren enjoyed a highly successful career in commercial real estate finance, working for esteemed companies such as Northwestern Mutual and GE Capital. While later serving as President of ITT Real Estate Services. In retirement, Warren decided to give back to the city he called home for many years by serving as Treasurer for the City of St. Charles. His professional achievements were numerous, but his personal passions defined his legacy.
A dedicated family man, Warren found immense joy in traveling with his loved ones and had a profound appreciation for history. However, his greatest love was baseball. From his childhood days riding the train into the city to watch the Cubs, to the collection of scorecards from every game he attended, Warren's devotion to the sport was unwavering. He was a long-time season ticket holder at Wrigley Field and passed his passion for the sport on to his wife, children, and grandchildren. Warren's love for baseball extended beyond the major leagues. He became a host father to many aspiring minor league players, following their journeys with pride and maintaining lifelong friendships with many.
While he spent much of his time at his home in Geneva, he also treasured his time in Houston with his grandchildren. However, the time he looked forward to most each year was the time he spent in Aruba. He has called the island his 2nd home for over 50 years and cherished the time spent there with family & friends.
Known for his quick wit and charismatic personality, Warren made friends wherever he went. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
