Thomas Larry Williams, 74, of St. Charles passed away on January 2, 2023 after a brief battle with cancer. Larry, as he was known, was born on April 19, 1948 in Dyersburg, TN to Everett and Evelyn "Inez" (Hudson) Williams. The eldest of 5 children, Larry was an exceptional and caring big brother. He grew up in Halls, TN, attending Halls High School before enlisting in the U.S. Navy, like his father before him. There he worked as an aircraft mechanic for 4 years, and also served in the Vietnam War. Larry later worked as a machine operator for Johnson Controls, as well as a firefighter and EMT for the city of St. Charles.
Larry married Roberta "Bobbie" Lee Holbrook on July 24, 1971. Together they raised 5 children and 1 grandson. He is preceeded in death by both his parents, brothers Jim and Ronnie, sister Jeanie, his wife of 41 years, and 1 son, Donnie.
Larry is survived by his brother Dennis of Atoka TN; 4 children: Darla Figved of Bensenville IL, Tammy (Irv) Bartelt of Vineland NJ, Thomas Williams II and Shannon (Jason) Woods of St. Charles IL; 4 grandchildren Christian, Brittany (Jeff), Emily, and Ryan; and 4 great-grandchildren: Kanyn, Kailey, Samuel, and Tommy; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Larry was a train enthusiast, as well as an avid gardener and fisherman. He enjoyed a good book and a classic western. Larry was a fiercely loyal dad and grandpa, always willing to lend a hand and always with a joke at the ready. He will be sorely missed.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday, January 10, 2023, at 11:00 am at Malone Funeral Home, 324 East State Street, Geneva, Illinois.
Graveside service will follow at River Hills Cemetery in Batavia, Illinois.
A visitation will be held Monday, January 9, 2023, from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at Malone Funeral Home.
