Steven Berendt

Steven Berendt, age 67, of Geneva, passed away Monday, March 21, 2022 at home.

He was born February 21, 1955, in Chicago, the son of Daniel and Anita (Nation) Berendt.

Steven was a loving father and husband.  He loved God, his family and his country.  He enjoyed coaching and supporting his children, playing board games with his family as well as video games with his children, linking them across the different states.  He recently became a grandfather to his adorable grandson, Cade.  He was a big supporter of the local cuisine, coffee, podcasts, morning talk shows and Donald Trump.  He will be dearly missed.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 34 years Rita (Murray); children Alyssa Berendt of Arvada, Colorado and Daniel (Melody) of Phoenix; grandson Cade; brothers Michael (Nancy) of Batavia and David (Siobhan) of N. Aurora; and many other dear relatives and friends.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Robert Berendt.

Funeral Prayers for Steven will be held Tuesday, March 29, 2022 at 10:00 am at Malone Funeral Home, 324 E. State Street (Route 38), Geneva proceeding to St. Peter Catholic Church, 1891 Kaneville Road, Geneva for Celebration of Funeral Mass at 11:00 am with Father Jonathan Bakkelund, Celebrant.

Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Geneva, Illinois.

Visitation will be held Monday, March 28 from 3:00 – 9:00 pm at Malone Funeral Home with a liturgical wake service at 8:45 pm.
