Shirley Marie Haraburda

Shirley Marie Haraburda, age 91, of St. Charles, passed away Thursday, September 15, 2022 at Edward Hospital in Naperville with her loving family by her side.

She was born January 29, 1931, in Chicago, the daughter of George Travers and Marie (Melia) Travers.

Shirley was a devoted wife to Chester and her 4 children.  She enjoyed gardening, sewing, cooking, and entertaining friends.  She also had a talent for painting. Her children and grandchildren inherited her wonderful landscape paintings, paintings of flower arrangements and living creatures. At the request of a friend she painted a lovely portrait of Bob Hope’s wife Dolores and their dog.  It was given as a gift to Bob and Dolores.  Shirley loved God and had great faith in his promises.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 72 years Chester; children Kent (Brenda) of Texas, Steven (Anne) of Naperville, David (Ying) of Westmont, and Diane (Stephen) Gay of Arizona; grandchildren David (Stephanie), Michael, Katie, Adam (Arielle), Elizabeth, Matthew (Jorie), Mark (Jacqulyn), Timothy, Alisa, Jeremy, Aaron, and Jamie; great grandchildren William, Alexa, Barrett, Olivia, Luca, and Jon; and many relatives and friends.

Shirley was preceded in death by her brother George and her parents.

A memorial service for Shirley will be held Saturday, October 8, 2022 at 1:00 pm at New Covenant Bible Church, 4N780 Randall Road, St. Charles.

Burial will be held Monday, October 10 at 11:30 am at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to New Covenant Bible Church, 4N780 Randall Road, St. Charles 60175 would be appreciated.
