Shaylin Lee Takesue, age 22, of Geneva, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, May 4, 2023 in Normal, Illinois.
She was born January 13, 2001, in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Timothy and Michelle (Grace) Takesue.
Shaylin attended St. Peter Grade School and Geneva Middle School North. Shaylin was a 2019 graduate of Geneva High School graduating with high honors. Shaylin graduated Summa Cum Laude in May 2023 from Illinois State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology, and a minor in children's studies. Shaylin was accepted for the Fall 2023 Master's program to become a school Psychologist in which only 7 spots were available.
Shaylin was a competitive volleyball player and was on a national championship team in club volleyball. Shaylin worked for 6 years part time at Chipotle in both Geneva and Normal IL and never tired of eating a burrito every day.
She is survived by her parents; sister Olivia; grandparents David Grace and Mary Takesue both of Michigan; uncle and aunt Derik Grace and Laura (Joseph) Stempnik both from Michigan; cousins Taylor, Faith, Joelle, and Nick Stempnik all of Michigan; and many other dear relatives and friends that will miss Shaylin dearly.
Shaylin was preceded in death by her grandparents Mary Grace and Dennis Takesue and her uncle Sean Grace.
Shaylin was loved by all and will be greatly missed.
A visitation for Shaylin will be held Thursday, May 18, 2023 from 2:00 pm until the time of her memorial service at 7:30 pm at Malone Funeral Home, 324 E. State Street (Route 38), Geneva with Father Jonathan Bakkelund celebrant.
Burial will be held privately.
