Sally Ann Degenhart Obituary

Sally Ann Degenhart, age 83, of Geneva, passed away Tuesday, May 4, 2021 at Delnor Community Hospital with her husband Tom and daughter Ann at her side.

She was born December 5, 1937, in Chicago, the daughter of Stanley and Sally Jo (Krutkiewicz) Lipinski.

Sally graduated from Forman high school, Chicago, in 1954; went on to graduate from Mundelein College in 1959 with a degree in music education. 

She married Walter Oldendorf (deceased) in 1959.  Sally had daughter Ann in 1961 and son Walter 1962.  They moved from Northbrook, Il, to Normal, Il, in 1967 when Walter took employment with ISU.  They divorced in 1974.  She married Thomas Degenhart in 1975; there were no children.  Following Thomas’s taking employment with Furnas Electric she moved to Geneva, Il in 1987.

In addition of private piano lessons, Sally was employed by Ed Ingold Realtor and Dr. John Foehr DDS, Bloomington, Il; by Furnas Electric, Batavia, Il, and Harris Bank St Charles Il.

Sally is survived by her loving husband of 45 years Thomas; daughter Ann (Doug Portz) Oldendorf of Ann Arbor, MI; daughter-in-law Debi Oldendorf of Oak Ridge, TN; grandchildren Courtney Oldendorf and Madison Oldendorf both of Oak Ridge, TN, James Portz of Noblesville, IN, and Kathryn Portz of Ann Arbor, MI; a sister Dorothy Martin of Scottsdale, AZ; and many other dear relatives and friends. 

She was preceded in death by her son Walter Oldendorf and her parents.

Services for Sally will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to Chapelstreet Church “Neighborhood Church Multiplication”, 2300 South Street, Geneva, Illinois 60134 would be appreciated.
