Rosemary McConnaughay

Rosemary McConnaughay, age 89, of Elburn, formerly of Geneva, passed away on December 17, 2024 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born October 26, 1935, in Genera, Illinois, to John and Catherine (Brizzolara) Boggiano.

She grew up in Geneva and attended St. Patricks Grade School. She graduated from Mt. St. Mary High School in St. Charles, Illinois with the class of 1953

She married William McConnaughay May 21, 1955. Together, they had 4 children John, Catherine, Janet, and  Margaret.

She worked alongside her parents at their family business, Geneva Bottling Works. Rosemary was sweet, generous, and hardworking. She had a great sense of humor and always had a sparkle in her eye. She will be remembered as an animal lover; devout Catholic; and loving mother, grandmother, daughter, and friend.

She is survived by her children: John (Karen) McConnaughay, Catherine (Thomas) Meyer, Janet (Leo) McCormick, and Margaret McDonnell; grandchildren: Chris (Alicia) Smudde, Kate (Mitch) Radman, Sean Smudde, Madeline (Derek) Stierwalt, Catherine (Mike) Davis, Garrett Steve, and Courtney (Jake) Finley; great grandchildren: Anneliese and Claire Smudde, Abigail, Elizabeth, and Charlotte Radman, Rosemary, Hannah and Henry Stierwalt, and Sophie and Grace Finley.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sons-in-law Glenn Cushing and David Meyer, and her husband William McConnaughay who passed away in 1999.

Visitation will be held Thursday, December 19, 2024 from 4:00 - 7:00 pm at Malone funeral Home, 324 E. State Street (Route 38), Geneva with a liturgical wake service at 6:45 pm.

Funeral prayers will be held Friday, December 20 at 9:30 am at Malone Funeral Home proceeding to St. Peter Catholic Church, 1891 Kaneville Road, Geneva for Celebration of Funeral Mass at 10:30 am with Father Ryan Browning Celebrant.  To live stream the mass, click link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YY3fdrDcl3c

Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Geneva.
