It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ron Oja on January 2, 2025 at the age of 70. Ron passed away in his sleep at his home in Batavia. Ron lived most of his life in Geneva and was an east sider.
Ron had the biggest heart, most contagious laugh and enjoyed spending time with his friends. He was a free spirit and was a man who marched to his own drum, did what he wanted and carved out his own path. Many will remember him as the Geneva High School equipment manager for the football teams. He was a master motorcycle mechanic, putting bikes together, it became his life’s passion. His specialty was flipping motorcycles and scooters. He enjoyed collecting rare coins, flying his remote helicopters and taking trips on his scooters. He will be greatly missed by so many.
He was born April, 19, 1954, in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Edward Eino and Kathleen Vera (Spratt) Oja.
He is survived by his siblings James of Freeport, Kathleen (Bruce) Hammer of Wisconsin, and Maureen (Jay) Mann of Vienna, Illinois; nieces Jodie (Darin) Prodo and Colleen (Joshua) LaPlata; great nieces and nephews Julia, Colton and Gianna.
A friend & family celebration of life will be held at a later date in the Spring.
In lieu of flowers memorials in Ron’s name can be made to Paws Humane Society, https://pawshs.org/ would be appreciated.
