Roger W. Parazaider, age 79, of Geneva, passed away Sunday, March 2, 2025 surrounded by his loving family at his son’s home in St. Charles.
He was born on October 9, 1945, in Chicago, the son of Emil and Helen (Horbeck) Parazaider.
He was greatly respected and admired throughout the Geneva School District. He taught for a total of 45 years before officially retiring. All those years were with the Geneva School District. He gave his life to the schools, and all his students. All who have had nothing but wonderful things to say, and who will also miss him as much as we do. The amount of love he had for them and their futures will go unmatched. From putting together the Outdoor Education itinerary, after school enrichment programs, to putting together and directing the 5th grade musicals. He even volunteered his time after retiring to help the school. One of his very last quotes to the newspaper when asked about his teaching was: "The fire is still there," Parazaider said, flashing his trademark smile. "The older you get, the harder it is, but we do it."
He was a jack of all trades. There wasn’t anything he couldn’t do, fix, or build. He did it all. As we reflect about all the ways he taught us (and his students), he taught us without using words or books. He taught us what hard work was, to be held accountable, responsible, and to see all obligations through. He was a life teacher. Photography, fishing, boating, World War 2 books and movies, aviation, and traveling were all things he deeply enjoyed
As much as he is missed, it is nice to know that he is finally at peace and in a better place with our Mom, as they now both watch over us.
He is survived by his sons Mark of St. Charles Stewart (Tiffany) of St. Charles and Jaymes (Elizabeth Kovacevich) of North Carolina; grandsons Henry and Remington; brother Robert of North Aurora; and many other dear relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother John, and his devoted wife of 54 years Mary who passed away in 2023.
Visitation will be held Saturday, March 8, 2025 from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm at Malone Funeral Home, 324 E. State Street (Route 38), Geneva.
Burial will be held Tuesday, March 11 at 11:00 am at Oak Hill Cemetery in Geneva.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the American Cancer Society, 150 S. Wacker Drive #2100, Chicago, Illinois 60606 or the Department of Education P.O. Box 44 Geneva, Illinois 60134, would be appreciated.
