Roger P. Hunz, age 87, of Geneva, passed away Wednesday, December 24, 2025, at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
He was born November 14, 1938, in Chicago, the son of Leon and Frances (Gierke) Hunz.
Roger was a devoted family man who found his greatest joy in spending time with those he loved most, especially his grandchildren. Being with family meant everything to Roger. He was also deeply connected to his community and his church, where he formed lasting friendships. He had many interests that brought him happiness throughout his life. He loved classic cars and model trains. He also enjoyed meeting friends for breakfast and lunch, a routine he looked forward to and cherished. Dancing, yoga, and playing cards were favorite pastimes, which he did often, always enjoying the company and fun that came with them. He also proudly served in the United States Navy Reserves, a commitment that reflected his sense of duty and service.
Roger is survived by daughter Patricia (Jim) Hullinger of River Forest; son William (Deanna) of St. Charles; grandchildren Ella and Henry Hullinger; step grandchildren Mackenzie and Michael Jordan; sister Karen Mangold (Bill) of Placentia, CA; and many dear nieces, nephews and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Mary Ruff, son Roger, Jr who passed away in 2006, his step grandson, Sam Jordan who passed in 2018, and his loving wife Dianne who passed away in 2015,
A visitation for Roger will be held Friday, January 2, 2026 from 9:00 – 10:30 am at Malone Funeral Home 324 E. State Street (Route 38), Geneva proceeding to St. Peter Catholic Church, 1891 Kaneville Road, Geneva for celebration of funeral Mass at 11:00 am with Father Ryan Browning. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LODyr_Jz0M0
Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Geneva.
