Robert M. Zimmerman, age 95, of Geneva, passed away Saturday, May 13, 2023 at Greenfields of Geneva with his loving family by his side.
He was born May 14, 1927, in Madison, Wisconsin, the son of Dennett and Gladys (Bradley) Zimmerman.
Robert grew up in Madison, graduated from East High in 1945, enlisted in the Merchant Marines. While on leave New Years Eve 1945 he met Betty Lee and they started dating. Robert enrolled at University of Wisconsin in 1947. He and Betty married July 14, 1948. Upon graduation in 1951 he joined Greeley and Hanson Engineers in Chicago where he became partner 1971. His forty year career took the family to Alexandria, VA, Spokane, WA and Medellin, Colombia. One of his proudest accomplishments was being President of Consulting Engineers Council of Illinois.
Robert was always very involved with his church and was President of several different congregations. He was an avid outdoorsman loving to fish and hunt. Golf was one of his favorite frustrations.
