Richard L. Rusch, age 93, of Batavia, passed away Sunday, December 19, 2021 at home with his loving family by his side.
He was born August 28, 1928, in Park Ridge, the son of Frederick and Nicolina (Johnson) Rusch.
Richard had many careers that he loved. Starting early in life as a mason, he was a member of the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers for 75 years. Later he had the pleasure of working for and retiring from the Park Ridge School District. After retirement, he found his way to Fermilab where he was custodian of the fitness center. Richard loved working in his backyard and all of nature: gardening, birds and wildlife. But above all, he deeply loved his family, church and community.
He is survived by wife of 63 years Carol (Anderson); children Rick of Colorado, Mark of Batavia, and Gayle (Jose) Ignacio of California; and many other dear relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Dorothy Gleissner and Harold and Fred Rusch.
A visitation for Richard will be held Thursday, December 23, 2021 from 9:00 – 10:30 am at Malone Funeral Home, 324 E. State Street (Route 38), Geneva proceeding to Holy Cross Catholic Church, 2300 Main Street, Batavia for Celebration of Funeral Mass at 11:00 am, with Father Jared Twenty, Celebrant.
Burial will follow at Assumption Cemetry in Wheaton.
