Randall S. “Randy” Vacek, age 69, passed away Monday, March 18, 2024, at his home in St. Charles surrounded by his loving family.
He was born November 23, 1954, in Washington D.C., the son of Jerome and Marilyn (Goede) Vacek.
Randy was someone you always saw outside; he loved being outdoors, whether that was kayaking down the fox river, walking his dogs, or bike riding through town. He often traveled back home to Colorado, to bike, camp, and hike through Rocky Mountain National Park. He was someone who loved to have fun, in anything he did in life. His favorite time of year was Halloween. Each year spooky music would echo through the neighborhood, and he would sit as a fixture on the front porch. Patiently waiting to scare trick or treaters come rain, snow, or windy weather, each year he would come up with new ways to scare kids. Whether it was a scarecrow sitting on the steps, a leaf monster, or a head on the platter. It was something he loved doing. There were many times he got injured due to how elaborate some of his ideas were, but he always had fun. He created fun, in everything he did in life, for his wife, children, and friends. There are so many stories, so many memories, that it is hard to put down everything he accomplished into one little paragraph, but he died loved. His family and friends miss him and are happy he is at peace.
Randy is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Gaylynn; children Taylor and Emma Vacek; siblings Tanya Vacek of West Virgina and Nik (Beth) Vacek of New Hampshire.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Services will be held privately.
