Phyllis E. (Przybylski) Carroll

Phyllis E. Carroll, age 84, of Geneva, formerly of Naperville, passed away Friday, April 10, 2020 at her residence in Geneva surrounded by her family.

She was born June 16, 1935 in Chicago, the daughter of Ben and Lillian (Urbanczyk) Przybylski.  She is survived by children Mary (Alan) MacLeod of Annapolis, MD, Ellen (Robert Cohen) Carroll of Batavia, IL, Martin (Jill) Carroll of Lombard, IL; grandchildren Allison, Catherine, and Madeline Carroll, Carter MacLeod, and Vivien and Gemma Cohen; and many other dear relatives and friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents, infant son William Carroll, and loving husband of 59 years Dr. Carter Carroll who she wed on December 27, 1958.

Phyllis was a1953 graduate of Lourdes High School in Chicago and received her college degree in nursing from St. Xavier University in Chicago in 1957.  She received her Master’s degree from Northern Illinois University where she also completed her doctoral studies. Phyllis was a practicing nurse for many years, including at LaGrange Memorial Hospital and Edward Hospital in Naperville, before becoming a Professor of Nursing at St. Joseph’s College, later St. Francis University, in Joliet from 1977 to 2016. In addition to teaching nursing students which she so loved to do, Phyllis also was a contributing author for nursing textbooks over the years.

She was loved by all who knew her for her thoughtfulness for others at all times and her sense of humor. She was someone everyone loved to be around. She loved spending time with her family, gardening, music, socializing with her many friends, and being involved in church activities and she will be dearly missed.

Funeral service and interment will be held privately at St. Peter & Paul Cemetery in Naperville. A celebration of Life Memorial will be held at a later date.
