Philip L. Livingston, age 86, a long-time resident of Geneva, passed away Monday, September 20, 2021 at Bickford of St. Charles with his loving wife Jane by his side.
He was born September 5, 1935 in Edwardsville, Illinois, the son of Thomas and Mildred (Crow) Livingston. Phil served in the Air Force during the Korean Conflict, and after being discharged, he met Jane in college. They moved many times while raising their family, before settling in Geneva.
Phil began his career with Chrysler in Michigan then went on to work as an engineer/draftsman with NASA in Huntsville, Alabama. From there, he worked in management for steel manufacturing companies in Wisconsin, New York and Illinois. After he retired from the industry, he opened Stained Glass Overlay which he operated on West State Street in Geneva for 15 years.
Phil was active in many organizations while living in Geneva. He was a member of the Lions Club, Geneva Chamber of Commerce, the Geneva River Rat Swim Team board, and he was instrumental in the Vikings Sports Boosters. He was a long-time member of the Methodist Church of Geneva, and the Men’s Club, serving on many committees. He will be remembered by many serving coffee and talking to local residents during the annual Memorial Day Pancake Breakfast.
He loved his friends, golf, and most of all family. Phil was happiest at family get-togethers, picnics, and at his grandkid’s sporting events. He had a zest for life, playful personality, and wonderful sense of humor. Grandpa “Hootie” will be remembered with happy memories and much love.
He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years Jane (Clayberg); children Leigh (Nick) Poulos of Arizona, Tom (Sandy) of Geneva, Rob (Susan) of Elburn, and Joanna (Bob) Rogers of Geneva; 14 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren; and many other dear relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, six siblings, and daughter-in-law Joan Lake Livingston.
