Peter J. “Pete” Davis, age 61, of Geneva, passed away Sunday, April 5, 2020 at Delnor Hospital in Geneva from complications of Covid-19 after having been a five year cancer survivor.
He was born February 10, 1959 in Hammond, Indiana, the son of Eugene and Nancy (Claxton) Davis.
Pete was a long time Geneva resident and graduated from Geneva High School in 1977. He remained lifelong friends with so many of his schoolmates. His love for Geneva ran deep. He loved coaching his three children and their friends in all their sport activities, including basketball, baseball, football, and soccer. He was an avid Bears and Cubs fan and was a Cubs season ticket holder since 1985. He loved taking his children to a Cubs game every season just the two of them. It has remained a cherished memory for his children. His other love was golf. He enjoyed his weekly golf league with his brother and his son and his son-in-law. His greatest happiness, however, was spending time with his family and friends. His smile and enthusiasm for life will be dearly missed.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 35 years Cheryl (Kowalski); children Jennifer (Matthew) Goley of Byron, Kelly (Ian) Schelich of North Aurora, and John of Chicago; grandchildren Bryce and Brynn Goley; his father Eugene; his brother Gary of Dixon; many cousins, and many other dear relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother.
A celebration of life service will be held at a later time due to the current health crisis.
Memorials made to Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center of Northwestern University, Multiple Myeloma Research by calling (312)503-4837 would be appreciated.
