Paul Dunbar Dunaway, age 61, of St. Charles, Illinois, passed away surrounded by family on Saturday, July 8, 2023 at Loyola Medical Center in Maywood.
He was born July 24th, 1961, in San Jose, California, the son of David and Susanne (Moodie) Dunaway.
Paul was a caring and devoted husband, father, son, and brother with an appreciation for classic rock music and loved playing bass with his band Soulpunch. Known for his irreverent sense of humor and penchant for doling out nicknames, Paul loved to poke, tease, and joke around with those that were close to him no matter the situation. Additionally, Paul retained a life-long soft spot for animals and cared for many cats and dogs over the course of his life. He will be dearly missed by his four cats (Allie “Black Meow”, Dancer “Budabun”, Angel “Baby Meow”, and Molly “Cheep-Cheep”) and two spoiled dachshunds (Zelda & Annaleigh “Potato”).
Paul is survived by his wife of 36 years Lisa (Tinoly); children Andrew of Chicago, Illinois and Erin and son-in-law Patrick Mulligan of Wauwatosa, Wisconsin; siblings Catherine (Kevin) Ruoff, Virginia (Marty) Lauth, David (Angie) Dunaway, Rita (Chris) Mohn, and Dorothea (John) Hiatt; mother Susanne of Shoreline, Washington; and many beloved nieces, nephews, relatives, friends, and pets.
He was preceded in death by his father David. Both Paul and his father served their country faithfully as members of the United States Marine Corps. Paul served from 1980 to 1984, and remained a proud veteran throughout his entire life.
A visitation for Paul will be held Sunday, July 23, 2023 from 1:00 pm until the time of his memorial service at 4:00 pm at Malone Funeral Home, 324 E. State Street (Route 38), Geneva with Father Johnathan Bakkelund officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to Anderson Humane, 1000 S. La Fox Street, South Elgin, Illinois 60177 would be appreciated.
