Norman Francis Kane, Jr, age 65, of St. Charles, passed away Sunday, June 14, 2026 at his home with his loving family by his side.
He was born April 15, 1961 in Windsor, Ontario, the son of Norman and Shirley (Steel) Kane.
Norman loved to laugh, and he loved making other people laugh too. Whether he was putting around at the local mini golf course, hunting down a good meal, or just telling one of his stories, he brought his own brand of humor to everything he did. He never took himself too seriously, and that easygoing nature made him a joy to be around. As a younger man, he spent hours behind a drum set, and music stayed close to his heart for the rest of his life. Even decades later, he could still find his way back to that same rhythm, tapping along whenever a good song came on.
He is survived by his partner of 38 years Kathryn (Craig); son Kyle (Ivonne) of Geneva, and granddaughter Sofia; son Alex of St. Charles; siblings Maureen (Emil “Chip”) Benson of Tennessee, Nancy (Bob) Benson of Michigan, Sheila Kane Robidoux of Michigan, and Terry (Lauren) Kane of Hoffman Estates; and many other dear relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and beloved friend Randy Kopp.
Services for Norman will be held at a later date.
In celebration of his life, flowers are welcomed and appreciated, or memorial donations may be made to Anderson Humane, 1000 South La Fox Street, South Elgin, Illinois 60177, or the Gary Sinise Foundation, PO Box 40726, Nashville, Tennessee 37204.
