Norma J. Strobel, age 93, of Geneva, passed away Saturday, March 22, 2025, at Delnor Hospital in Geneva.
She was born September 19, 1931, in Geneva at the old community hospital, the daughter of Arthur and Edna (Nelson) Benson.
Norma was the only child born to her parents and lived in St. Charles before moving to Geneva at young age of 4 years old.
She enjoyed music, belonging to Church and school Choirs. She graduated in 1949 from Geneva Community High School with a graduating class of 48 students. Norma worked as a secretary at William B. Wood Insurance in Geneva.
Norma married Bill Strobel on October 2, 1954, at St. Peter Catholic Church in Geneva.
She was an avid sports fan attending Cubs and Cougars Baseball games and of course Geneva High School Sports.
She was an election judge for many years. Also, very active with PTA, being a room mother at Harrison Grade School and GHS Sports Booster Club and Music Boosters Club. Norma also was a Brownie and Girl Scouts leader and Den Mother with Boy Scouts.
Some of her pastimes were gardening, baking, reading mystery novels, word searches and jumble word puzzles. Her favorite places to travel to were Door County, Chetek, Wisconsin, and Branson, Missouri.
Norma will be greatly missed by all those whose lives she touched.
She is survived by children David of Geneva, Michael of Geneva, Barbara (Jim) Cramer of Aurora, and Ann of Geneva.
Norma was preceded in death by her parents and her devoted husband William who passed away in 2013.
A visitation for Norma will be held Sunday, March 30, 2025 from 2:00 pm until the time of her memorial service at 5:00 pm at Malone Funeral Home, 324 E. State Street (Route 38), Geneva with Father Sean Grismer officiating.
Burial will be held privately at River Hills Memorial Park in Batavia.
In lieu of flowers memorials to Geneva All Sports Booster Organization, 416 McKinley Avenue, Geneva, Illinois 60134 would be appreciated.
