Nenad "Leonard" Cajic

Nenad “Leonard” Cajic, at the age of 78, passed away Thursday, August 31, 2023 at his home with his loving family by his side. 

He was born June 4, 1945 in Banja Luka, Yugoslavia.

Nenad served in the military in Yugoslavia and came to the United States at the age of 24 with only a suitcase and a dream to make a new life in America. He spoke Serbian and German and self-taught himself English. He was a very hard-working man and worked 2 jobs during most of his life to support his family. He worked at the Village of Bellwood for 27 years and after that he had a small tree service business that he was known for in the area, all by the word of mouth. One of his famous quotes was “Don’t worry about it, I do for you.” He had a strong passion to help people and he loved trimming and cutting down trees. Until the day he passed, he kept his yard and his daughter’s yard well landscaped. He enjoyed riding his bike, walking his dog around his neighborhood, and driving around town to visit friends and family to see if he could lend a hand. He was a jokester and always making people laugh. We will miss him dearly, as he always said, “see you later alligator.”

Nenad is survived by his loving wife of 53 years Ursula (Vukmir); children Tina (Mike) Cajic and Len (Judi) Cajic; sister Zora Cajic that resides in Austria along with many more friends, relatives, and pets.

He was preceded in death by his parents (Nenad and Smiljka) and his 6 brothers and sisters that resided in Yugoslavia.

Funeral Services will be held privately.
