Nancy Catenacci Obituary

Nancy L. (Quimby) Catenacci, age 93, of Warrenville, Illinois, passed into her eternal life on Tuesday, July 23, 2024.

Born on July 16, 1931, in Mackinaw, Illinois, Nancy was the daughter of the late Herbert J. and the late Elizabeth L. (Markert) Quimby.

She married Raymond L. Catenacci on April 17, 1954, and they spent 68 years together before he preceded her in death.

Nancy was a life-long Cubs fan from the age of five, an avid bowler, and an overall sports enthusiast.  She enjoyed travel, having visited 49 of the 50 U.S. states.  Nancy was well-read, worked many jigsaw and crossword puzzles, and played bingo and cards whenever she could.  In college, Nancy performed in the ISNU campus Gamma Phi Circus as part of the single and triple trapeze, swing, and web acts.  After graduation, she was involved in AAUW portrayals of famous women for local schools, performing as Hermine “Miep” Gies.  Prior to retirement, Nancy worked as a school librarian at Mooseheart Child City (Batavia, Illinois), Oswego High School (Oswego, Illinois), and Aurora Central Catholic High School (Aurora, Illinois).

Nancy is survived by her four children Joy (Dennis) Deyo, Debra Allen, Janet (Geoffrey) Smith, and Mark (Kathryn) Catenacci; six grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Raymond who passed away in 2022; four sisters and their husbands, Betty Jane (Olin) Simpson, Jean (Charles) Feller, Mary (Joseph) Olsen, and Peggy (Ray) Zbinden and one son-in-law David Allen.  Also preceding her were Raymond’s ten siblings, each of their spouses, and his parents. 

A visitation for Nancy will be held Friday, August 2, 2024 from 9:00 am until the time of her funeral service at 11:00 am at Malone Funeral Home, 324 E. State Street (Route 38), Geneva.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Nancy’s honor may be given to GammaPhiCircus.IllinoisState.edu/Giving or the American Cancer Society, PO Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741 or an organization of your choice.

Interment will take place at River Hills Memorial Park immediately following the services.  A light meal will be provided.
