Myra L. May, age 85, of Lombard, passed away Friday, August 30, 2024 at Brighton Gardens surrounded by her loving family.
She was born November 23, 1938, in Tower Hill, Illinois, the daughter of Howard and Rosaleen (Batson) Culumber.
Mom was an incredibly strong woman, who raised eight children. She was a scratch cook, baker and herder of us. She always said if we remained babies, she would have had a 100. She had a passion for her family, swimming, and any four-legged animal around; often feeding squirrels pecan halves she could be found. She was our central hub and to say she will be missed is an understatement. Rest Well Up High Momma.
She is survived by children Vicki (Tim) Tingle, Susan (Joe) Romano, Bruce (Mary) May, Sandy (Steve) Beach, Paul (Karen) May, Alan (Tina) May, and Eric (Jennifer)May; grandchildren Kimberly (John) Marcum, Kristin Simonson, Maggie (Paul) Rice, Phillip and Anna Moody, Samuel (Michelle) Peniak, Bruce (Audrey) May, Samantha May, Steve, Dylan and Connor Beach, Jacob, David, Alayne, Emma, Sophie, and Logan May, and Courtney Garner; great grandchildren Bryce and Laila Shohfi, Brinley Peniak, Braeden Wheeler, Teagan Garner and Bruce May IV; siblings Tom (Sandy) Culumber, Jean Welsh, and Diane Olsen; son-in-law Ihor Peniak; and sister-in-laws Kathy Culumber, Mary Culumber; and many other dear relatives and friends.
Myra was preceded in death by her husband, Bruce May, daughter Wendy Peniak, siblings Judy Dieter, Mike Culumber, Rudy Culumber and her parents.
A visitation will be held Saturday, September 7, 2024, from 9:00 am until the time of the funeral service at 12:30 pm at Malone Funeral Home, 324 E. State Street (Route 38), Geneva. Momma’s favorite color was pink, some of us will be attending in pink and welcome you to do the same.
Burial will follow at Assumption Catholic Cemetery in Wheaton.
