Mary Jane Purkart, age 84, of Geneva, passed away Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at Delnor Hospital with her loving family by her side.
She was born on October 13, 1937, in Chicago, the daughter of Aloiz and Maria Zorko.
Mary Jane was a proud dual Slovenian/American citizen and she enjoyed traveling extensively in her lifetime to places such as Australia, China, Argentina, Slovenia, and all of Europe. She loved to sew and was frequently making clothing and mending on her trusty sewing machine. As well as being a great cook, she also made a fantastic potica for everyone during holiday gatherings.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 56 years Anton; children Kristin (Loic) Louapre of Glen Ellyn and Anton L. (Molly) Purkart of Geneva; grandchildren Remy and Nicolas Louapre and Annica and Anton P. Purkart; brother Louis and many other dear relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother William.
A visitation for Mary Jane will be held Wednesday, December 29, 2021 from 9:00 am until the time of funeral service at 1:00 pm with Father Jonathan Bakkelund officiating.
Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Geneva.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Slovenian Cultural Center (Lemont, IL) or Geneva All Sports Boosters would be appreciated.
