Marlene A. Romero, age 90, of Elk Grove Village, passed away Monday, September 30, 2024, at The Pearl of Elk Grove surrounded by her loving family.
She was born August 14, 1934, in Aurora, the daughter of Vincent and Margaret (Monihan) Petit.
Marlene worked for many years at Bell Laboratories, which became AT&T, and retired to Kuttawa, KY in 1990. She was an avid reader and talented crafter and enjoyed giving her creations as gifts and "thank you's". She loved working with her hands, whether it was cooking (grandkids loved going to Grandma’s for the amazing meals), sewing, quilting and crafting. As well as, working on crossword and jigsaw puzzles. She enjoyed volunteering for her church and the VFW and Coast Guard Auxiliaries after her retirement.
She is survived by her children Roberta Weigand of Geneva, Barbara (Larry) Sparacino of Dekalb, Dianne (Gary) Giesow of Brighton (MI), Steven Romero, Patti (Todd) Lawler of Lombard, Chris (Matt) Hamlin of Janesville (Wl), her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and her stepsons Robert Romero of Neptune (NJ), Richard Romero of Neptune (NJ) and Al (Karen) Romero of Rockford. Also, her sister Betty Stumpenhorst of Dixon.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Kathleen Judd (1997), her son William Romero in (2012) and her husband Alphonsus (2014).
Services for Marlene will be held privately.
