Marie C. Hennessey, age 86, of Batavia, passed away Friday, July 3, 2026 at Covenant Living at the Holmstad.
She was born November 6, 1939 in Somerville, Massachusetts, the daughter of John and Helen Maiocco Christopher.
Marie was a proud Italian woman whose greatest joy in life was her family. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, a proud grandmother, and a cherished great-grandmother. She was also a loyal friend whose kindness touched everyone who knew her.
Her home was the heart of the family-a place where everyone was always welcome. As a dedicated homemaker, she lovingly cooked and baked for her family until she proudly passed those traditions on to her daughter. She treasured family gatherings, holidays, and Sunday dinners, where laughter, love, and delicious meals brought everyone together.
Marie taught her children and grandchildren the value of hard work, the importance of putting family first, and the strength that comes from unconditional love. She was a force to be reckoned with, possessing both a strong spirit and an even bigger heart. Her devotion to her family never wavered.
She enjoyed the simple pleasures in life, including eating pasta, reading a good book, knitting, and eventually discovering a love for gardening. Her life was a beautiful example of love, resilience, generosity, and strength.
Marie leaves behind countless cherished and often funny memories that will continue to bring smiles to those who loved her. Her legacy lives on through the family she adored and the traditions she created. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all whose lives she touched.
She is survived by her children Thomas J. (Donna) of Florida and Elaina (Andrew) White of Geneva; grandchildren Drew (MaryJane) and Alicia White; great- granddaughter Hallie White; and many other dear relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and dear husband Thomas who passed away in 2018.
