Mari B. Kerfoot, age 78, of Geneva, passed away Thursday, July 29, 2021 at Northwestern Medicine Delnor Hospital in Geneva with her loving family by her side.

Mari was born May 6, 1943, to Ernest and Gertrude (Krueger) Stilwell in Elgin where she grew up and attended school.  For many years she worked in retail and was a department manager for Wieboldt’s Department Store at Meadowdale Shopping Center in Carpentersville.

Mari met William Kerfoot, of Batavia, in 1969.  They were united in marriage on April 18, 1970, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Elgin.  In August 1971 they moved to their “starter home” on the eastside of Geneva where she lived until her death.  In 1973, Mari began working at Rachielle’s Pharmacy in Batavia where she worked until 1987.  She truly cared for her customers and got to know so many of them and their families.  In her teens, she was a very talented artist.  As an adult she continued here interests in art through the purchase of various paintings depicting scenic country areas.  She also enjoyed shopping for antiques, collecting Hallmark ornaments, and Precious Moments among other cherished items.

Mari also enjoyed attending school and extracurricular activities of her two grandsons as well as a memorable three generation family vacation in 2012 which included stops at Hershey’s Chocolate World, Gettysburg National Park, Crayola Experience, Baseball Hall of Fame, and Norman Rockwell Museum.  She enjoyed various family vacations from fishing in Wisconsin to seeing attractions such as the Grand Canyon and Mr. Rushmore

She is survived by her devoted husband of 51 years William; son Kenneth (Valentina) of Batavia, grandsons William and Thomas, brother-in-law John; and many other dear relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother William Stilwell and her only first cousin Gordon Smith.
