Margaret Anne Schmidt

We sadly announce the passing of Margaret Anne Schmidt on January 25th, 2023, at the age of 77.

Born in Indianapolis and raised in Fort Wayne, Indiana, Margaret was the daughter of Phyllis and Eugene Schmidt. Margaret developed a lifelong passion for literature, art, architecture, genealogy, travel, jewelry making, and history.

A graduate of Indiana University, the Katharine Gibbs School in Boston, Northwestern University McGill School of Journalism, and the Chicago Institute of Design, Margaret had a distinguished career in journalism, working with WBBM-TV Channel 5 Chicago (News Division), U.S. News & World Report, the MacArthur Foundation (Genius Grant Division), and the Blue Cross of Illinois magazine. She taught writing at Roosevelt University.

Margaret will be remembered by her four siblings: Eugene Schmidt, John Schmidt, Nancy Salon, and Katherine Reinecke, and will be interred at Lindenwood Cemetery in Fort Wayne. Margaret's life was full of accomplishments and she will be missed.
