Luke Henry Smith

Luke Henry Smith, age 20, of Oglesby, formerly of Geneva, passed away Thursday, October 27, 2022.

Luke was born February 26, 2002 in Winfield, the son of Mitchell and Heather (Deutsch) Smith.

Luke had a deep love for his family and friends. He enjoyed being outside in nature, especially hiking at Starved Rock and Matthiessen State Parks. He was well known and loved for his sense of humor, love of music, and for being quite the foodie.

He is survived by his father Mitchell Smith of St. Charles and parents Heather and Vincent Spilotro of Geneva; siblings Alex Spilotro, Kate (Joe) Davis, and Olivia Smith; grandparents Richard Deutsch of Indiana, Anne Marie Denofrio of Crystal Lake, and Gene Smith of St. Charles; and his nephew Noah Spilotro.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents Rita Deutsch, Wallace “Wally” Spilotro and Goldie Smith and by his great grandmother Lena Deutsch who he was especially close to.

Funeral prayers will be held Saturday, November 5, 2022 at 9:30 am at Malone Funeral Home, 324 E. State Street (Route 38), Geneva proceeding to St. Peter Catholic Church, 1891 Kaneville Road, Geneva for Celebration of Funeral Mass at 10:30 am with Father Jonathan Bakkelund Celebrant. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VOOiidRNvMM

Burial will be held privately. 

Visitation for Luke will be held Friday, November 4 from 4:00 - 8:00 pm at Malone Funeral Home with a liturgical service at 7:45 pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Starved Rock Historical and Educational Foundation.
