Luke Engebretson, age 20, of Geneva IL, passed away Sunday, December 3, 2023.
Luke was born June 14, 2003 in Naperville, IL, the son of Pete and Aimee (Toner) Engebretson. He was the third of four children.
Luke was a junior at the University of Nebraska studying marketing. Luke enjoyed sports, both as an active participant and fan. He was a former varsity basketball player for Geneva High School and was an avid Chicago Bears/Bulls fan. In recent years, he became a big supporter of Husker athletics becoming a fixture at all Husker football games and basketball games. While at Nebraska, he participated in intramural football, intramural basketball, and was a member of Phi Kappa Psi fraternity. Luke was a compassionate, kind, and selfless friend and family member, always putting others first. His friends referred to him as “Cool as a Cucumber” and a “Once in a life time” type of friend. Although Luke’s time here was short, he impacted many lives. He will be missed dearly.
He is survived by his parents Pete and Aimee (Toner) Engebreteson; siblings Paige, Grace, and Cole Engebretson; and grandmothers Alice Engebretson and Edna Toner.
He was preceded in death by James Engebretson and James Toner.
Celebration of Life Mass for Luke will be held Saturday, December 9, 2023, at 10:30 am at St. Peter Catholic Church, 1891 Kaneville Road, Geneva with Father Jonathan Bakkelund celebrant. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MHDdm4WPbMk
Burial will be held privately.
Visitation will be held Friday, December 8, 2023, from 2:00 – 8:00 pm at Malone Funeral Home, 324 E. State Street (Route 38), Geneva.
