Kevin Michael Cooper, aged 73, of Geneva, passed away December 8, 2023, with his loving family around him.
Kevin, known to many as “Mr. C” and to his grandchildren as “Papa Coop” was born November 8, 1950 in Oak Park, IL to Stanley and Margaret Cooper. Kevin went to Proviso East High School. After high school, he enlisted in the Navy, serving in Key West, Florida for the duration of his service. After leaving the Navy, he went to work for Commonwealth Edison, climbing the ranks from mechanic to management, running a regional transportation fleet before retiring in 2002.
Later in life, Kevin enjoyed his love of working with his hands, building classic cars, and crafting sets for Beverly Theatre Guild. He also returned to his military roots, becoming a member of the American Legion.
Kevin is survived by his children Tracy (Anthony) Buckland, Jennifer (Michael J.) Crain, Kevin J., and daughter-in-law Kyra Cooper-Longi; grandchildren Rylee Nova, Michael P., and Alexander; siblings Jane (Harry) Centella and Sheila and many loving nieces and nephews.
Kevin was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Margaret, first wife and mother of children Jessica, second wife Cheryl, son Christopher, and brother John.
Visitation for Kevin will be held on Wednesday, December 13, 2023 at Malone Funeral Home, 324 East State Street, Geneva from 4:00 pm until the time of his funeral service at 7:30 pm. https://youtu.be/lDarW4iHVKQ
