Kenneth Joseph "Ken" Smith

Ken Smith, age 89, of Batavia, passed away Tuesday, August 2, 2022, at Brighton Gardens of St. Charles with his loving family by his side.

He was born September 1, 1932, in Lebanon, the son of William and Vera (Gallaway) Smith.

Ken served as a Sargent in the Korean War.  He then began a career in accounting at Furnas Electric in Batavia.  He was an avid fisher and snowmobiler and enjoyed vacationing with his family in Florida. His quick wit and compassionate spirit was known and will be missed by many.

He is survived by his children Shawn (Kurt) VanScoik of Indiana, Daniel of Warrenville, and Tamara Theall of Geneva; grandchildren Sargent Matthew, Eric, and Austin VanScoik, Cory Smith, Sara (Nick) Kuz, and Lauren and Paige Theall; siblings Lois (Richard) Manahan and Ron (Ginnie) Smith; and many other dear relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Francis Cleo, daughter-in-law Linda, son Philip, and his devote wife of 61 years Sara who passed away in 2020.

Funeral service and burial for Ken will be held privately.
