Katherine Jean Floersch, loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away in the early morning of January 19, 2021. She was 63 years old.
She was born October 20, 1957. Katherine was later adopted into the Slusser family. She was raised in Park Ridge, Illinois, on Chicago’s north side. Katherine graduated from Maine South High School and was a graduate of Oakton College.
Over the past 24 years, Katherine battled numerous complications from a traumatic brain injury. She sustained this injury in 1997 when she was struck by a vehicle while she was crossing a street.
Prior to the injury, Katherine was a preschool teacher and a librarian for the Sycamore Library. She was a talented baker. She had an angelic singing voice. She led children’ Sunday school at her church. She was creative and artistic. She loved animals.
Most of all, Katherine was a devoted mother and grandmother. She was a friend to anyone who met her.
Katherine will be missed by her children Elizabeth Floersch and Robert (Amber) Floersch; her grandchildren Eliot, Mary, Olivia, and Lillian; her brother Edward (Janet) Slusser; her sister Martha (Jack) Doub; and her sister-in-law Carol Slusser. Katherine is also survived by many dear nieces and nephews.
Katherine was preceded in death by her adoptive parents Thomas and Florence Slusser and her brother John Slusser.
Services will be held privately.
