Joyce P. (Preston) Markham

Joyce P. Markham, age 85, of Babylon, New York, passed away Wednesday, June 23, 2021 at Delnor Hospital in Geneva with her loving family by her side.

 She was born September 15, 1935 in Babylon, New York, the daughter of William and Harriet (Flanders) Preston.

Joyce was a lifelong Babylon resident.  She attended St. Joseph’s Elementary School and Babylon High School.  She met her husband Tom when both were youngsters growing up in the community. The couple married in 1958 and raised their family in Babylon.  After retiring Joyce and Tom wintered in Aventura, Florida. 

She is survived by her daughters Denise (David) Serewicz of St. Charles, Illinois and Eileen (Tom) Barreca of Westport, Connecticut; grandchildren Molly and Thomas “Mac” Barreca and Elizabeth, Margaret, and Joseph Serewicz; and many other dear relatives and friends.

 She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings William, Pauline Nagy, and Kenneth; and her devoted husband Thomas who passed away in 2015.

 A funeral mass for Joyce will be held at St. Joseph R.C. Church in Babylon, New York on Tuesday, July 6, 2021 at 12:00 pm.

 In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to St Joseph Church Outreach Center, 39 N. Carll Avenue, Babylon, New York 11702 would be appreciated.
