Joyce Charlotte Hammond

Joyce Charlotte (Orton) Hammond, age 91, of Paris, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 24, 2025, at Arden Courts in Geneva, Illinois.

Born on December 24, 1934, in Monroe County, Missouri, Joyce was the daughter of Wallace and Mary Alice (Wood) Orton. On February 14, 1960, she married William Lee Hammond in Chicago, Illinois. Together, they shared 65 wonderful years of marriage, and he survives her.

Joyce is also survived by her two sons, William Wesley Hammond (Priscilla) of Aledo, Texas, and Mark Wallace Hammond (Lynn) of Geneva, Illinois; as well as two cherished grandchildren, Julia Hammond of Chicago, Illinois, and John Hammond of Sunnyvale, California.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Joyce and her beloved husband, Bill, made their home in the Chicago area for many years before relocating to Paris, Missouri. A faithful member of Paris Presbyterian Church, Joyce delighted in bringing people together through her gift for cooking and hosting elegant dinners for family and friends. She possessed a beautiful singing voice and shared it joyfully as a member of the Paris Community Choir. Above all, Joyce treasured time spent with her family, creating lasting memories filled with love and warmth.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at Agnew Funeral Home in Paris, Missouri. Visitation will begin at 12:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Walnut Grove Cemetery in Paris, Missouri.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Paris Presbyterian Church.
