Josephine M. Hamilton

Josephine M. “Jo” Hamilton, 93, of Geneva, passed away Wednesday, November 6, 2024, at her home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born May 17, 1931, in Topeka, Kansas, the daughter of Anton and Rose (Arduino) Maurice.

Jo was a resident of Geneva for over 60 years and volunteered at Geneva Community Hospital for many years.  She was a member of Geneva’s Young Mother’s Club and assisted many elderly residents over the course of her life.  She enjoyed preparing special cakes and meals for her beloved grandchildren.

Jo is survived by her husband of 71 years Donald; her sons Donald Jr. of Geneva, William (Leigh) of New Orleans, and Michael (Olga) of Yorkville; grandchildren Michael Hamilton, Ashley Rose (Esteban) Alarcon, Michelle (Tim) Vits, and Jennifer (Nick) Morgan; eight great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren, sister Rosemary Maurice of Canyon Country, California; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Samuel Maurice, and sister Frances Santi.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, November 13, 2024 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at Malone Funeral Home, 324 E. State Street (Route 38), Geneva with a liturgical wake service at 7:45 pm.

Funeral prayers will be held Thursday, November 14 at 10:00 am at Malone Funeral Home, proceeding to St. Peter Catholic Church, 1891 Kaneville Road, Geneva, for a Celebration of Funeral Mass at 11:00 am with Father Ryan Browning as Celebrant.

Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Geneva.
