Joseph R. “Joe” Kralovic, age 83, of Geneva, Illinois passed away on Wednesday, March 4, 2020 at his home in Geneva surrounded by his family and friends.
He was born March 8, 1936, in Cleveland, Ohio the son of Joseph L. and Rose (Janotka) Kralovic. Joe was a longtime member of the Knights of Columbus 4723 and was an active alum of Benedictine High School, Cleveland, Ohio.
Joe graduated from the University of Cincinatti with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering; he specialized in industrial piping design engineering for clients such as the Braidwood Nuclear Generating Facility, NutraSweet, and numerous steel companies throughout the Midwest and Canada. Joe also worked overseas in Puerto Rico, Venezuela, and on a lengthy assignment rebuilding Port Said, Egypt. Joe was an avid sports fan and loved watching both professional teams and his own children and grandchildren in their sport of choice. Joe enjoyed playing cards, dominos, and checkers with his family. He was an avid sportsman —racquetball, fishing, boating & waterskiing, biking, cross-country skiing, hockey, and ice skating. He enjoyed reading history, watching movies, attending theater, listening to music, and socializing with friends.
Joe will be dearly missed.
Joe is survived by his loving wife of 63 years Barbara (Basel) of Geneva; children Joseph C. of Chicago, Judy L. (Mike) Sperry of Webster, Wisconsin, and Lisa M. Kralovic of Washington, D.C.; grandchildren Sarah, Max and Rachel Sperry, Maya and Leo De Leon; sister Marian N. Pierson of Delaware; sister-in-law Wilma Basel..
He was preceded in death by his parents, son Michael W. Kralovic, and relatives Lloyd Pierson, Jerome Basel, Paul Basel, and Ruth Basel.
Visitation will be held Monday, March 9 from 5:00 – 8:00 pm, with a rosary prayer at 7:45 pm, at Malone Funeral Home in Geneva, Illinois.
Funeral prayers for Joe will be held Tuesday, March 10, 2020 at 9:30 am at Malone Funeral Home, 324 E. State Street (Route 38), Geneva proceeding to St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 2900 E. Main Street, St. Charles, for Celebration of Funeral Mass at 10:30 am with Father Charles Warren, Celebrant.
Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Geneva, Illinois.
