Joseph J. Jaeger

Joseph John Jaeger, age 76, of Elburn, died peacefully at his sister's (Kathy) house on Tuesday, June 6, 2023 from complications resulting from a brain tumor.

He was born in Geneva on January 2, 1947 to John and Eleanore Jaeger.Growing up in Geneva and Batavia, Joe, an Eagle Scout, graduated from Marmion Military Academy in 1965 and from Marquette University in 1970 with a degree in business. He served in the U.S. Army Reserve in 1970.  He worked for Aetna Insurance in Aurora and later as a Principle for Integro Insurance Brokers in Chicago. He was a member of St. Peter Parish in Geneva.

Joe will be remembered by his family and many friends for his generosity; sense of humor and his always positive and upbeat attitude. He was an expert in archery and loved football and hunting. He was always ready to help anyone in need financially and in any other way, never asking for anything in return.

Joe is survived by two sons and five grandchildren: Matthew (Nicolette) and granddaughter Lauren Jaeger of Elburn, who cared for Joe the last  years; Gerred (Kathleen) and grandchildren Olivia, Lilli, Tatum and Joseph Jaeger of Elburn; siblings Kathy Jaeger of Geneva, who cared for Joe from July to his death, Mike (Margaret) Jaeger of Ottawa; Tim Jaeger of Geneva and Betsy (Stephen) Lawson of Morgantown, WV; nephews Matthew (Selene) Jaeger of Northbrook, IL, Luke Jaeger of Geneva and niece Angela Jaeger of Geneva; great niece Kianna McMorris and great nephew Jacob Jaeger of Geneva; Aunts Norma Jaeger of Geneva; Florence Jaeger of Ottawa and Mary Jaeger of Batavia and many cousins.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, John and Eleanore Jaeger of Batavia and younger brother John Jaeger of Springfield; his grandparents Justin and Blanche Jaeger and George and Agnes Wermuth, all of Geneva; also five uncles, four aunts and four cousins

Funeral prayers will be held Tuesday, June 13, 2023 at 9:30 am at Malone Funeral Home, 324 E. Burial will be held privately.

Visitation will be held Monday, June 12 from 4:00 – 8:00 pm at Malone Funeral Home, 324 E. State Street (Route 38), Geneva with a rosary recited at 7:45 pm.
