Joseph G. Gallina

Joseph G. Gallina, age 85, of Batavia formerly of Geneva, passed away Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at Delnor Hospital in Geneva, surrounded by his family.

He was born June 28, 1932 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Joseph and Florence (Balsamo) Gallina.

Joe graduated from DePaul University and proudly served his country in the Army during the Korean War and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was the International Manager of Customer Sales and Financing at General Electric Air Craft/Engine Group in Cincinnati, OH.   Joe was a devout Catholic and was very active in all the churches that he attended, most recently St. Peter Catholic Church in Geneva, where he was a Eucharistic Minister. He was a former president of the Addison Jaycees and the Addison Park District, where he was very involved in coaching his children’s sports and was an avid Chicago White Sox fan.  Joe was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather and will be dearly missed.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mary (Mannarino); children Renée (Ron) Kuntz of Sugar Grove; Joseph (Patty) of Johnsburg; James of Naperville; and Laura (Jon) Fechner of Batavia; grandchildren Nicole (Josh) Shaver; Daniel (Ashley), Tony, and Genna Gallina; Dugan, Haley, and Randy Gallina; and Trevor, Brett, and Miranda Fechner; and great-grandchildren Mason, Hawk, Tallulah, and Priscilla Gallina, Isabelle and Jasper Shaver; and many other dear cousins and relatives.

He is preceded in death by his parents; Florence (Balsamo) and Joseph Gallina, Granddaughter Alexandra Gallina, Daughter- in- law, Denise (Dugan) Gallina.

Funeral prayers will be held Wednesday May 30, 2018 at 9:30 am at the Malone Funeral Home 324 E. State St. (Rt. 38) Geneva proceeding to St. Peters Catholic Church 1891 Kaneville Rd. Geneva for Celebration of Funeral Mass at 10:30 am with Fr. Jonathan Bakkelund Celebrant.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 29, 2018 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Malone Funeral Home, Geneva, with a Liturgical service at 7:45 pm.

Entombment will be held at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside, Illinois.
