John F. Beardsley, age 91, of Geneva passed away Tuesday, January 4, 2022, with his loving family by his side.
He was born May 1, 1930, in Belvidere, the son of Donald and Marie (Sembach) Beardsley.
John had a far ranging mind that found interest in a huge variety of things. From holding lively discussions with family that showed his insight into human motivation, to creating colorful stained glass windows, to making hand woven baskets with intricate patterns, to building furniture, telescopes, a sailboat, and a giant box kite that he promised his children they could ride in, and even the house in Geneva that he built and lived in since 1957, John could turn his hand to almost anything. An avid piano player, he also loved books on history and the game of dominoes, a glass of milk with a few cookies and visits from his large family. We will miss him with our whole hearts.
He is survived by his children Kathleen (Haydon) McPartland of Batavia, Christine Beardsley of Batavia, James of Geneva, Steven (Rachelle) of St. Charles, Julie Schimelpfenig of Geneva, and John (Trudi) of Sarasota, Florida; grandchildren Jennifer (Joe) Turek, Amy (Dwight) Appleby, Haydon (Katie) and Joshua (Ali) McPartland, David (Jodie) Frerichs, Robert (Jamie Hofmeister), Katharine and Elizabeth Snell, Matthew, Nathan, and Sarah Beardsley, Celia, Alex and Peter Schimelpfenig, Brittany, Christian, and Brendan Beardsley; great grandchildren Nevian, Zachary (Annie) Frerichs, Emma, Chloe, Jackson, Ariel, Izabela, Julia, Lucas, Gavin, Wyatt, Caleb, Charles, Eli, Rhiannon, Zelda, Maven, Bennett, and Murphy and great-great grandchildren, Ada, Melissa and Caroline.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Patricia, and his daughter Linda.
A visitation for John will be held Friday, January 7, 2022 from 4:00 pm until the time of his memorial service at 6:00 pm at Malone Funeral Home 324 E. State St. (Route 38), Geneva.
Interment will be held privately at a later date.
