John Edward Kaindl Obituary

John Edward Kaindl age 92, passed away Friday, March 15, 2024, at the Landings in Batavia surrounded by his loving family.

He was born February 3, 1932, in Chicago, the son of Arthur and Marguerite (Farley) Kaindl.

John graduated from Fenwick High School in 1949, attended the University of Illinois for 2 years, then went on to serve our country in the United States Army. After serving in the army, he studied at the Illinois Institute of Technology where he became a civil engineer for the next 43 years. In “retirement” he operated Cardinal Embroidery with his wife, Flora, for 10 years.

John served every community where he lived, worshiped, practiced, or performed.  John was on the Village Board of Trustees in Hazel Crest for 18 years, as well as on the Board of Directors at South Suburban Hospital for 12 years. He was a West Towns Chorus member and officer in the West Suburban Chapter and sang in a barbershop quartet for 14 years. John was an active member of St. Anne Parish in Hazel Crest, St. Julien Parish in Elk Grove Village, and St. Peter Parish in Geneva. He was also a member and officer of the Illinois Society of Professional Engineers.

John and Flora loved to travel with their family and friends. They loved to host family holiday parties, and especially loved welcoming new family members as they were married and born into the fold.

John is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Flora; children Kathryn (Mark) Stoner, Mark (Kimberly), Michael (Susan), Mary (John) Krutzler, Jean (Edward) Spitzer, and Patricia (David) Boskey; grandchildren Joshua (Kari) Stoner, Rebecca (Mathew) Irie, Margaret (Brian) Allen, Josephine Stoner, Matthew Stoner (Emilie Verran), Robert (Jenna) Kaindl, Matthew Kaindl, John Kaindl, Katherine Kaindl, Emily (Austin) Zamora, Patrick (Kelcey) Kaindl, Lauren Kaindl, Jacob Kaindl, Amanda (Daniel) Powers, Meredith (Zachary) Erickson, John Matthew Krutzler, Kayla (Daniel) Koroski, Alyssa (Keith) Martinez, Greta (Hans) Tvedt and Megan Boskey; great grandchildren Dylan Horsch, Olivia Horsch, Elliot Stoner, Berit Irie, Charles Allen, Thomas Allen, Sawyer Kaindl, Jettson Kaindl, Dallas Kaindl, Gunnar Kaindl, Phillip Powers, Calvin Powers, Adam Erickson, Peter Erickson, Bridget Koroski, Abigail Koroski, Tavie Martinez and Klea Martinez; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Arthur, and sister Sr. Jean Margaret, Sister of Providence (nee Margaret Mary).

Visitation for John will be Friday, March 22, 2024, at 4:00pm until 8:00pm with a liturgical wake service at 7:45 pm at the Malone Funeral Home, 324 E. State Street (Route 38), Geneva.

Funeral Prayers will be held Saturday, March 23, 2024, at the Malone Funeral Home, Geneva, at 9:30 am  proceeding to St. Peter Catholic Church, 1891 Kaneville Road, Geneva, for Celebration of Funeral Mass at 10:30 am with Father John McFadden.  Click on link to live stream the mass https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5V9iKqg866Q

Burial will be held privately.
