John S. Odiorne

John S. Odiorne, age 88, of Geneva, Illinois, passed away Friday, October 13, 2023 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

He was born May 8, 1935, in Summit, New Jersey, the son of David and Dorothy (Sheldon) Odiorne.

John worked for Kemper Insurance for over 30 years.  He enjoyed playing tennis and golf, stamp collecting, traveling, playing cards, and spending time with family.  After he retired, he and Sally traveled extensively to many of their “bucket list” places.  They also lived in Panama City Beach, Florida for twelve years and enjoyed their time in the sun.  John spent the last chapter of his life at Greenfields of Geneva.

He is survived by his loving wife Sally (Wessels) Odiorne; children Linda (Mike) Straka of Batavia and Laura Conti of Gilbert, Arizona; grandchildren Stephanie Keating (Jake) and Kristiana Breed; great-grandchildren Ethan and Luke Keating; and many more dear relatives and friends.

John was preceded in death by his parents and brother David Jr.

A memorial service will be held in Friendship Hall at Greenfields of Geneva, 0N801 Friendship Way in Geneva, Illinois on Sunday, November 5, 2023. Visitation will be at 1:00 pm, with the memorial service following at 2:00 pm.

Interment will be private at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Crystal Lake, Illinois.
