Joanne M. (Bates) Ingold

Joanne M. Ingold, age 92, of Batavia, passed away Wednesday, May 4, 2022 at her home with her loving family by her side.

She was born February 10, 1930, in Rock Island, the daughter of John and Anne (Graff) Bates.

Joanne was an active member of St. Peter Catholic Church in Geneva, involved in many service and faith committees. For many years, she was popular and well regarded by many as the cheery receptionist and helpful phone operator under the rotunda of the old Kane County courthouse until her retirement in 2002.

Joanne is survived by her children Greg (Anne Thoreen) of Washington state, Liz (Bill) Wilkie of Batavia, Sue Smith of North Aurora, Cathy Haas of Geneva, and Pete of Geneva; 12 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; daughter-in-law Anne Ingold of North Aurora; son-in-law John Haas of Macomb, IL; and many other relatives and friends. Joanne always had a tasty “samrich” ready for innumerable hungry young people dropping in at all hours of the day and evening.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three siblings, sons Tom and Mike, and her husband Charles who passed away in 1983.

A Celebration of Funeral Mass for Joanne will be held at 10:30 am on Monday, May 9, 2022 at St. Peter Catholic Church, 1891 Kaneville Road, Geneva with Father Jonathan Bakkelund celebrant. 

Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Geneva.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to The American Diabetes Association, 300 S. Riverside Plaza, Chicago, Illinois 60606 would be appreciated.
