Jeanette Warber Obituary

Jeanette T. Warber, age 84, of Geneva, passed away Wednesday, August 7, 2024 at Delnor Hospital with her loving family by her side.

Jeanette was born May 13, 1940, in Shabbona, the daughter of Leo and Margaretta (Petrosa) DeFano.  Jeanette was married for 38 years to Richard Warber.

Jeanette is survived by children Kathie (Steve) Mudd of Missouri and Lloyd Warber of Aurora; grandchildren Katelyn and Josette; siblings Marie (Tony) Valent, Laverne Defano and James (Sandy) DeFano; and many other dear relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Richard L. Warber and her parents, Leo and Margaretta Defano.

Beginning with the dream of fulfilling a young daughter’s wish for a doll house and with Jeanette’s attention to detail and Rich’s ingenuity, their business, Warber’s Miniatures, was born.  That led to an opportunity with the Little Travelers store in Geneva. They spent many years creating accessories for doll houses and sold them out of their own home and ultimately had their precious creations sold at Michaels’ craft stores nationwide. They also enjoyed creating unique gifts for their family and friends.

After closing the business, Jeanette took a position with Geneva High School where she enjoyed spending time with co-workers and staff until she retired.

Jeanette’s life was filled with passion for crafting, holidays and her membership with the Red Hat Society. Jeanette’s creativity and keen sense of crafting continued with events and holidays with friends, family and her job. She made each and every one of her children and grandchildren’s Halloween costumes by hand. She loved to decorate for the holidays and create lifelong memories.

Staying true to her Italian roots, she loved to cook, host family gatherings and make ravioli from scratch as her mother did. She created traditions that will be carried on for generations to come. She was known to her grandchildren as Nana.

She was the heart and soul of her family, and she will be dearly missed.
