Janice Condon Obituary

Janice Condon, age 88, passed away Monday, June 30, 2025 at Sunrise of Bloomingdale with her loving family by her side.

She was born April 2, 1937, in Chicago, the daughter of Edward and Christine (Koehler) Faller.

Janice grew up on Lincoln Avenue in Chicago.  She lived above her father’s butcher shop.  This clearly had an impact on her because she never particularly enjoyed eating meat.  Her early life helped shape the loving and grounded woman her family and friends came to know and love.  She graduated in 1955 from Lakeview High School.  She eventually began working at Continental Bank, where she met the love of her life, Tom Condon.  Their connection was instant and lasting.  Together they built a life full of love, laughter, and music.

In 1963 they moved to Westchester, Illinois where they raised their three children: Tom, Kathy and Mike.  Janice was a devoted stay-at-home mom while the kids were young, creating a warm and loving home.  Once they were in school, she joined Evans Furriers in Hillside Illinois, where she started as a clerk and worked her way up to supervisory role she earned through dedication and quiet leadership.

Janice and Tom shared a deep bond.  One of the things she cherished most were their Saturday night date nights, which almost always included a couple martinis, music and occasionally dancing.  Jan loved to dance-whether it was a night out on the town or just swaying in the kitchen to a favorite tune.  Music brought her joy.

When Tom passed away in 1981, Janice showed incredible strength. She kept going for her family, raising her children with the same love and care she always had.  Her quiet resilience, even in heartbreak, was one of the many things that made her so special.

Janice also had a soft spot for animals, from her first dog Puddles to her especially beloved dog Go-Go, our first family dog who really became of constant companion.  While the kids were at school, Janice and Go-Go enjoyed their time alone together. Go-Go was eventually replaced by Shasta, Tonya, Pookie and Prince.  Each one held a special place in her heart.

Janice loved sunny warm days and could often be found sunbathing in the backyard with her neighborhood friends. She was not shy about her dislike for winter.  The thought of a snowstorm coming when she might have to drive put her into a panic.  She worked in this role until one December Day, while living in Oswego, she had to drive home in a snowstorm that took her over four hours in her car and the very next day on December 09th, 2009 - she officially resigned from Evans.

Besides her love for gameshows like The Price is Right, Jeopardy and The Wheel of Fortune as well as being a strong solotaire player, she found some of her greatest joy later in life in her role as Grandma to her four grandchildren: Sean, Becky, Courtney and Kyle.  Nothing made her smile brighter than time spent with them.

Janice will be remembered for her warmth, her sense of humor, her ability to cry at the drop of a hat-sometimes sad tears but many times happy ones, her love of music and warm summer days and above all to her deep devotion to her family. Her spirit lives on in the stories, the laughter, and the love she leaves behind.

Janice is survived by her children Kathy McCoy of Roselle and Michael (Laurene) Condon of Burlington, IL; daughter-in-law Jan; grandchildren Sean (Alyana) Condon, Rebecca McCoy (Jesus Ramirez), Courtney Condon and Kyle (Kinga) Condon; great grand children Brian, Jasper and many other dear relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Thomas and son Thomas, sisters Barbara Massman (Sherm) and Doris Ringstrom (Helmer), her son-in-law James McCoy and her sisters/brothers-in-law Ellen (Bud) Cousineau, Mary (Jack) Armstrong, Genevieve (John) McCole her nieces Jeanne Cousineau and Sheila O’Leary and the late Stan Rubin as well all her furry pets whom she loved so very much.
