Janet L. Stantus, age 74, of Geneva, passed away Tuesday, June 2, 2020 at Belmont Village Senior Living Center in Carol Stream.
She was born August 29, 1945, in Battle Creek, Michigan, the daughter of Walter and Marion (Klinzing) Longerman.
Janet received her BA from Valparaiso University in Indiana, her MA in special education at the National College of Education in Evanston, Illinois, and taught at Aurora public schools from 1967 – 1999. She was a kidney transplant survivor, loved sewing and crafting, and was a very active member at King of Glory Lutheran Church in Elgin. However, her greatest pleasure came from spending time with her loving family. Jan will be dearly missed.
She is survived by her siblings Kenneth (Catherine) Longerman of Bettendorf, Iowa, Ruth (Gary) Mueller of Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, Grace (Charles) Wolf of Mount Clemens, Michigan, and Paul (Sandra) Longerman of Hanover Park, Illinois; and many dear nieces, nephews and friends.
Due to the pandemic there will be no visitation. Interment for Janet will be held privately at Union Ridge Cemetery in Chicago. In the future a memorial service will be held at King of Glory Lutheran Church.
