Janet Adams, age 74, of Aurora, passed away Wednesday, June 10, 2026 at Belmont Village with her loving family by her side.
She was born March 6, 1952, in Des Moines, Iowa, the daughter of Edmond and Dorothy (Caffrey) Patch.
After graduating from Lincoln High School in Des Moines, she began her college career, eventually meeting her future husband Ben at the University of Iowa. After a hiatus to raise her two children, she later graduated with a Bachelors in Business Administration from North Central College in Naperville. Janet was good listener, kind and giving, with a good-natured spirit and a spontaneous playfulness that could catch you off guard. She enjoyed swing dancing classes with her husband, water aerobics, and attending plays, musicals, and ballets with friends and family. She kept her academic side engaged as a member of the American Association of University Women’s Book Club and studying foreign languages including Swedish (to try to impress her grandchildren). Art classes would reveal a hidden talent for painting. To Janet, family mattered above all else. She cherished visiting with loved ones, and her door was always open.
She is survived by her son Jason (Sara) Adams of Sweden and daughter Michelle (Joseph Picchietti) Hatcher of West Chicago; grandchildren Meja and Albin Adams of Sweden; mother Dorothy of Iowa; siblings Jim (Mary) Patch of Iowa, Brian (Ellen) Patch of Iowa, Teresa (Mike) Bruno of Tennessee, and Nancy (Dan) Bainter of Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her father, Edmond; siblings John, Dale, and Mary Patch; and her devoted husband of 32 years Ben, who passed away in 2005.
A visitation for Janet will be held Wednesday, June 17, 2026 from 9:00 am until the time of her funeral service at 11:00 am at Malone Funeral Home, 324 E. State Street (Route 38) in Geneva. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZnlqFX_8UCM
Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Geneva.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the American Diabetes Association would be appreciated.
